Wow.

Well, justice, I suppose, has been served.

Corruption case killed by delay.

So I’m just getting things ready for the publisher…

And I asked the Factory to email me some quotes from the press. I never read reviews so I’ve just quickly cut and pasted them up on the reviews page. Hopefully they said nice things, but if not, that’s fine too. It’s good to have conflicting opinions!

Toronto the Published…

That’s right. Toronto the Good is going to get published by Playwright’s Press! I kinda want the poster for the play to be the cover of the book. Again I thank everyone who has ever been involved with creating a great show. More on the published book later.

Last night at the Spoke Club…

I was hob knobbing with other nominees. Many friends were there. But so many others should have been there. I ran into Raoul Baneja the other night at Tarragon watching Scorched. If you saw Bashir Lazar, you know how freaking talented the guy is, and no nomination. Damn.

I’ve also got some more news about Toronto the Good coming, so stay tuned…

Well thanks to everyone’s hard work and talent…

The show was nominated for a Dora award! More than I expected. I’ve never been nominated for my writing before, so it has to be the hard work of everyone involved. But I have to say, I’m actually more than a little upset that others were not nominated. There was some amazing acting on that stage. How can a play get nominated and not the director? Hmmmm.

Drum roll…

I will be reading from my work at The Factory Theatre on May 23rd. It’s part of the Doors Open celebration. I’ve always wanted to do a Doors Open, and now I’m reading at one.

The Factory Theatre is an historic Toronto icon, and I hope that they give me some history on the building. Rumour is the studio space in the basement was a bowling alley.

Hmmm.

Well, I’ve finally uploaded the latest version of the script…

I would have done it earlier but I’ve been trying to figure out how to get rid of the revision marks in Final Draft. I just find it annoying. It may be interesting for you to see which parts of the script have changed, but for me, it’s just annoying. Just go to the Download the Script page. The link is above.

And on that note, it would be great if there was an actual Theatre script writing program. I used to have one, but that was back in the Word 95 era. I loved it, and I’m actually considering creating a virtual drive on my computer to load Windows 95 so that I can use it again. I hate using Screenplay software. But alas, it’s still easier than inputing each character name by hand.

Never thought I’d see the day when I complain about my writing software. I remember using a typewriter for my very first script and keeping a bottle of white out handy. Those were the days.

The new draft…

What have I been doing you ask? I’ve been putting the finishing touches on the final draft. There were many changes made during rehearsal, and the draft that’s on this site is no longer valid. I’m going to upload it sometime this weekend.

And I’ve also caught myself, a few times, actually feeling that I like living here. It’s funny, I’m in a show right now, and we performed in Brampton, and one of the cast members said they would be horrified to live there, and I disagreed. I’m a small town guy, I admit it. I’d be just peechy living in a small town, maybe I’d be the drama teacher at the local school, and I’d just spend quiet time with my family. But truth be told, I’d rather raise my kids in Toronto. Youth get into waaaaaaaaay more trouble in a small town. I know, from personal experience. And as I discovered, I actually, on occasion, sincerely like it here.

Sometimes.
